About Ethmia hagenella Chambers, 1878
Ethmia hagenella (Chambers, 1878) is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. It is native to the United States, where it occurs in the states of Texas and New Mexico. The forewings of this species measure between 9.1 and 11.9 mm (0.36–0.47 inches) in length. The base color of the forewings is white, with a broad pale brown area covering the costal region. The base color of the hindwings is white, but they become pale brownish toward their distal margins, with darker coloring concentrated into distinct spots between the veins. The two recognized subspecies differ in their adult flight seasons. Adults of the nominate subspecies, Ethmia hagenella hagenella, are active on the wing in January, March, April and October, and produce multiple generations each year. Adults of the subspecies Ethmia hagenella josephinella are on the wing from late March to May, and again in September. This subspecies also likely produces multiple generations per year.
