About Ethmia delliella Fernald, 1891

Ethmia delliella, commonly known as the ladder-backed ethmia moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. Its range extends from the Gulf region of Texas and Mexico, through the west coastal plain of Mexico and Chiapas, to El Salvador and Costa Rica. The forewings of this species measure 9–12 mm (0.35–0.47 in) in length. The base color of the forewings is white with black markings that reflect a metallic steel blue sheen. The base color of the hindwings is white, shifting from slightly to strongly brown toward the apex. In Texas, adult moths are active from March to October; in other parts of their range, adults are on wing from April to August. This species likely produces multiple generations per year. The larvae of Ethmia delliella feed on Ehretia elliptica and Cordia alliodora.
