About Ethmia candidella Alphéraky, 1908

Ethmia candidella Alphéraky, 1908 is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. Its known distribution spans North Africa, southern Europe, and the Middle East. The species occurs in Armenia, with a direct first-hand observation recorded in Yerevan during October 2023. Larvae of the nominate subspecies E. candidella candidella feed on plants in the genus Lithospermum, including Lithospermum purpurocaeruleum, as well as Cerinthe major, Borago officinalis, and Asperugo procumbens. Larvae of the subspecies E. candidella wiltshirei have only been documented feeding on Asperugo procumbens.
