Esomus metallicus, sometimes called the striped flying barb. However, this common name is usually used for the species Esomus lineatus instead. Esomus metallicus is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish that belongs to the Danionidae family. This fish can be found in Southeast Asia, specifically in Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Peninsular Malaysia. Its distribution covers the Salween, Mekong, and Chao Phraya river systems. It can live in both fresh and brackish water. It reaches a standard length of 7.5 cm, which is equivalent to 3.0 inches.
