This species is distributed in southwestern coastal India, specifically occurring in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, and southern Maharashtra. Its type locality is recorded as "Mangalore, Karnataka State, India". Its preferred natural habitats are sea beaches and scrub forests. Eryx whitakeri is viviparous.
