Erythrolamprus aesculapii (Linnaeus, 1758) is a species of mildly venomous snake in the family Colubridae. It has several common names: the Aesculapian false coral snake, the South American false coral snake, and in Portuguese it is called bacorá or falsa-coral. This species is endemic to South America. Its geographic range includes the Amazon rainforest of South America, and it is also found on the island of Trinidad, which is part of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Within its range, E. aesculapii typically lives in rain forests, where it is most often found in leaf litter or burrowing in soil. It occurs at altitudes ranging from sea level up to 2,300 m (7,500 ft).
