Erythranthe palmeri is a hairy annual herb. It reaches a maximum height of around 28 centimeters, and grows from a thin, spindly stem. Its leaves are arranged oppositely along the stem, range in shape from linear to oval, and measure less than 3 centimeters long. The tubular base of the flower is enclosed in a ribbed calyx made of sepals with pointed lobes. The flower has a narrow throat and a wide, five-lobed face. The flower is one to two centimeters long, and is usually a deep pinkish purple color, with variable yellow and purple markings inside its mouth.
