About Erythranthe diffusa (A.L.Grant) N.S.Fraga

Erythranthe diffusa, commonly called Palomar monkeyflower, is a flowering plant species native to North America. It is endemic to the Californias, and classified as a rare plant because of its restricted geographic range. This species reaches a maximum height of 8 inches, or 20 centimeters, and bears flowers in purple, pink, and yellow. It favors growing in gravelly or sandy soils within chaparral or low-elevation coniferous habitats. It has been recorded growing in Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Diego County, Santa Clara County, and Baja California. The Palomar monkeyflower faces threats from recreational activities and real estate development that impacts its preferred wild habitat.
