Eryngium planum L., commonly known as blue eryngo or flat sea holly, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the Apiaceae family. This species is native to a region that covers central and southeastern Europe, as well as Central Asia. It is an herbaceous perennial with a thistle-like appearance that grows up to 50 cm (20 in) tall. Its features include branched silvery-blue stems, and it produces numerous small blue conical flowerheads surrounded by spiky bracts during the summer.
