About Erronea caurica (Linnaeus, 1758)

Erronea caurica (Linnaeus, 1758) is a species of cowrie. Mature individuals of this species reach a length of 35–55 millimetres, equal to 1.4–2.2 inches. This cowrie has an elongated body shape. Its basic dorsal coloration is light brown or yellowish, it has a pinkish underside, and bears brown spots along its edge. The species and its subspecies are found throughout the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, occurring along the coasts of East Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, and Tanzania, and around the islands and island groups of Aldabra, Chagos, the Comores, Madagascar, the Mascarene Basin, Mauritius, Réunion, and the Seychelles.
