About Erodium brachycarpum (Godr.) Thell.
Erodium brachycarpum (Godr.) Thell. is an annual herb that grows up to around half a meter tall. It produces lobed, hairy leaves borne on petioles, with leaf blades reaching up to 10 centimeters wide. The inflorescence is an umbel of lavender flowers, each with five petals about one centimeter long that often have dark stripes. Its fruit has a hairy base just over half a centimeter long, and a style that can grow up to 8 centimeters in length. This species is very similar to Erodium botrys and is often mistaken for it, but Erodium brachycarpum is a smaller plant overall. Its flowers are around one-third the size of Erodium botrys flowers, and its style is shorter than 80 millimeters, while Erodium botrys has a longer style. There are also minor differences between the two species in their seeds.
