About Eriogonum marifolium A.Gray
Eriogonum marifolium A.Gray is a dioecious, mat-forming subshrub that grows in sandy mountain soils. It grows in patches of wavy-edged pale green leaves, and produces erect, branching inflorescences that reach 10 to 40 centimeters in height. Male and female plants of this species often differ so much in appearance that they can be mistaken for separate species. Male plants grow clusters of tiny pale yellow staminate flowers, while female individuals produce clusters of much larger bright yellow or red pistillate flowers.
