About Eriogonum cernuum Nutt.
Eriogonum cernuum Nutt. is a species of wild buckwheat with the common name nodding buckwheat. It is native to most of western North America, where it grows in sandy and gravelly habitats such as woodland and sagebrush. This species is an annual herb that reaches a maximum height of around 60 centimeters, and has a thin, branching flowering stem. Its rounded, woolly leaves are one to two centimeters wide, and grow mostly around the base of the stem. The inflorescence is evenly lined with hanging involucres that hold the flowers.
