About Eriocaulon koernickianum Van Heurck & Müll.Arg.

Eriocaulon koernickianum, commonly known as dwarf pipewort or gulf pipewort, is a plant species native to Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas in the United States. It grows in moist, sandy acidic soils found in seeps and bogs. This is a small herbaceous species that reaches a maximum height of 8 cm (3.2 inches). It reproduces both sexually and asexually via lateral vegetative shoots. Its leaves are narrow and grow up to 5 cm (2 inches) long. The species' flowers are grouped into a clustered head that sits at the top of a long flowering stalk. These flower heads reach up to 4 mm in diameter, range in color from gray to olive, and do not have the ciliate hairs that are common to many other species in the Eriocaulon genus.
