The northern white-breasted hedgehog, scientifically named Erinaceus roumanicus Barrett-Hamilton, 1900, is a recognized species of hedgehog. This species has a distribution that extends westward to Poland, Austria, former Yugoslavia, and Albania, and reaches south to Greece and the Adriatic Islands, with established populations on the islands of Crete, Corfu, and Rhodes. Its range continues eastward through Russia and Ukraine, reaching as far east as the Ob River in Siberia. The species is widespread across its entire range, and there is no evidence of significant population decline.
