About Erigeron lonchophyllus Hook.
Erigeron lonchophyllus Hook., commonly known as shortray fleabane, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. This species is native to both Asia and North America. In North America, it grows across most of Canada, with the exception of the four Atlantic provinces, and is also present in the western and north-central regions of the United States. It can be found across much of Asia, including Siberia, Mongolia, Xinjiang, Kazakhstan, and Iran. It grows in many types of moist habitat and disturbed areas. It is an annual or biennial herb, growing between 2 and 60 centimeters (0.4 to 24 inches) in height. Its stem has a texture ranging from hairy to bristly. Its basal leaves can reach up to 8 centimeters (3.2 inches) in length, while leaves along the upper stem are smaller and shorter. The plant's inflorescence holds between one and 12 small flower heads. Each flower head is lined with hairy phyllaries that have purple tips. It contains up to 130 hairlike white to pink ray florets, each only 2 or 3 millimeters long. These ray florets surround numerous yellow disc florets at the center of the head.
