About Erigeron borealis (F.Vierh.) Simmons

Erigeron borealis (F.Vierh.) Simmons, also referred to as Erigeron alpiniformis, is a rare Arctic flowering plant species in the Asteraceae family. It is one of several plants that share the common name alpine fleabane. This species has only been recorded growing in Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat, an autonomous territory of Denmark), and in Labrador and Nunavut, Canada. Erigeron alpiniformis is a short, branching shrub that rarely grows taller than 20 cm (8 inches). Its inflorescence typically holds 1 or 2 flower heads, and rarely produces 3 or 4. Each flower head contains many small yellow disc florets, and is surrounded by a ring of 100 to 200 white or pinkish-purple ray florets.
