About Erica chamissonis Klotzsch ex Benth.
Erica chamissonis is a plant species classified in the genus Erica. It is endemic to the Eastern Cape. This species is one of eight species from the fynbos biome that serve as main sources of pollen and honey for Apis mellifera capensis, the Cape honeybee. Erica chamissonis has three recognized varieties: Erica chamissonis var. chamissonis, Erica chamissonis var. hirtifolia Dulfer, and Erica chamissonis var. polyantha (Klotzsch ex Benth.) Dulfer.
