This species has the scientific name Eresus walckenaeri Brullé, 1832. Males of this species are very similar in appearance to males of Eresus sandaliatus or Eresus cinnaberinus. Females can reach a body length of up to 4 cm, and often have a red band on their opisthosoma. Adult males of this species can be found active from April to June. This species is distributed across the southern Balkans, southern Italy, Turkey, and the islands of the Aegean Sea.
