About Eremothera chamaenerioides (A.Gray) W.L.Wagner & Hoch
Eremothera chamaenerioides is an evening primrose species with the common name long-capsule suncup. This species is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it grows particularly in desert regions. It is an annual herb that produces an erect, reddish, hairy, glandular stem that can reach up to half a meter in height. Its leaves are lance-shaped or oval, and can grow up to 7 or 8 centimeters long. A nodding inflorescence bears several flowers, each with white petals that are a few millimeters long and fade to dull red when dried. The fruit of this species is a capsule measuring 3 to 5 centimeters long.
