The grey-backed sparrow-lark, scientifically named Eremopterix verticalis (A.Smith, 1836), is also called the grey-backed finch-lark. It is a species of lark belonging to the family Alaudidae. This species is distributed across southern and south-central Africa. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland. The common name 'grey-backed sparrow-lark' is sometimes also used to refer to the black-eared sparrow-lark.
