About Eremopterix leucopareia (Fischer & Reichenow, 1884)
Fischer's sparrow-lark (scientific name Eremopterix leucopareia), also known as Fischer's finch-lark, is a species of passerine bird belonging to the family Alaudidae. Its distribution ranges from central Kenya to eastern Zambia, Malawi, and north-western Mozambique. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, and it occurs specifically on short grass plains. This is an inconspicuous, dull-coloured bird that bears a general resemblance to a finch. It can be told apart from the similar-looking chestnut-headed sparrow-lark by the lack of a white patch on the crown of its head. Outside of the breeding season, it congregates in large flocks. The bird's common name honours the German explorer Gustav Fischer.
