Erechtites valerianifolius (Wolf ex Rchb.) DC. is an annual herb that grows up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall. Its leaves have long petioles with narrow wings running along their edges. Each leaf produces an oblong or elliptical leaf blade that bears many pinnate lobes. A single plant can produce many flower heads, which can be yellow or purple in color. Each flower head contains both disc florets and ray florets.
