About Eratigena duellica (Simon, 1875)

Eratigena duellica, commonly known as the giant house spider, is a species of funnel weaver spider that belongs to the family Agelenidae. This species is originally native to Europe; it has also been recorded in British Columbia, Canada, and in the U.S. states of Washington and Oregon. The related species Eratigena atrica also shares the common name giant house spider. In 2013, Eratigena atrica was moved from the genus Tegenaria to the genus Eratigena. Before 2018, Eratigena duellica was classified as the same species as Eratigena atrica. In 2018, researchers restored Eratigena duellica, Eratigena saeva, and Eratigena atrica as three distinct separate species.
