About Epipedobates espinosai (Funkhouser, 1956)

Epipedobates espinosai was first formally described by Funkhouser in 1956. Among adult individuals of this frog species, males measure 16.0 to 17.5 mm in snout-vent length, while adult females measure 15.2 to 20.38 mm. The skin on the frog's back is either coffee-colored or dark red, marked with blue and white reticulations or other types of markings. Its flanks are black, with patches of turquoise coloration. This is a diurnal frog species that inhabits lowland forest areas near streams, where it lives associated with leaf litter on the forest floor. Scientific observations have recorded this species at elevations ranging from 858 meters to 1719 meters above sea level.
