Epipedobates boulengeri (Barbour, 1909) is a small frog species. Males measure 15–20 mm (0.59–0.79 in) in snout–vent length, while females measure 17–21 mm (0.67–0.83 in) in this measurement. Its colouration is variable: the dorsum ranges from dark reddish to uniform dark brown, and the sides are black. It has a pale yellowish or creamy white lateral line, a cream-coloured dorsolateral line, and a dark coppery black iris. Its natural habitats are dense moist tropical rainforests, and it also occupies altered habitats including gardens and railway tunnels. Its known range overlaps with multiple protected areas: Reserva Ecológica Cayapas-Mataje, Parque Nacional Mache Chindul, Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas, Reserva Ecológica Los Illinizas, Parque Natural Isla Gorgona, Reserva Natural Biotopo, and Reserva Natural Indígena La Nutria.
