Epilobium komarovianum grows in creeping mats, and has rounded leaves marked with ridge-like patterns. This species is endemic to New Zealand, where it occurs across the North Island, South Island, and Chatham Islands. It grows on open, damp ground. It has also become naturalized in Great Britain, Ireland, other parts of Europe, and the United States.
