About Epilobium densiflorum (Lindl.) Hoch & P.H.Raven
Epilobium densiflorum is a species of willowherb that goes by several common names: denseflower willowherb, dense spike-primrose, and dense boisduvalia. It is native to western North America, ranging from British Columbia to Baja California, and grows in a wide variety of habitats there. It is an erect annual plant that often grows taller than one meter, with fuzzy green foliage. Its pointed leaves reach up to 8 centimeters long near the plant’s base, and upper leaves are typically hairier than lower leaves. The plant’s stem can be either branched or unbranched. A hairy, leafy, densely packed inflorescence of flowers grows at the top of the stem. Each individual flower has four deeply notched petals, colored in shades from pinkish purple to nearly white with dark veining, and each petal is about one centimeter long. The fruit it produces is a cylindrical capsule around one centimeter in length.
