About Epicauta waterhousei (Haag-Rutenburg, 1880)
Epicauta waterhousei (Haag-Rutenburg, 1880) adults emerge between April and July. They can be identified by their dull black elytra that each bear a greyish longitudinal stripe running from the humeral angle toward the elytron apex. Their orange-red head lacks black dorsal markings. Close similar species are Epicauta erythrocephala (the type species) and Epicauta gorhami, which occurs in Honshu, Japan. This species has been recorded feeding on groundnuts, soybeans, eggplants, tomatoes, and slender amaranth (Amaranthus viridis).
