About Ephippion guttifer (Bennett, 1831)

Ephippion guttifer (Bennett, 1831), commonly called the prickly puffer, is a species of pufferfish. It is native to the coasts of the eastern Atlantic Ocean, ranging from Gibraltar to Angola. This species can reach a total length of 80 centimetres (31 inches). It is commercially important to fisheries and is also popular as a gamefish. When it puffs up, this species becomes prickly. It is the only known member of the monotypic genus Ephippion.
