About Ephedra trifurca Torr. ex S.Watson

Ephedra trifurca is a sprawling shrub that can grow close to 2 metres, or 6.6 feet, in height. It consists of erect, sharp-pointed twigs that are light green when young, turning yellowish or greenish gray as they age. Curling, pointed leaves grow at its nodes; these leaves can reach up to 1.5 centimeters long and remain on the plant long-term. Male individuals of this species produce pollen cones at the nodes, each of which is up to 1 centimeter long. Female individuals produce slightly larger seed cones, and each seed cone holds a single seed enclosed in a papery envelope.
