About Ephedra antisyphilitica Berland. ex C.A.Mey.
Ephedra antisyphilitica Berland. ex C.A.Mey. is a plant species native to the southern Great Plains of the United States, specifically Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. It is also native to northeastern Mexico, including Nuevo León, Coahuila, and San Luis Potosí. This species should not be confused with Ephedra antisyphilitica S.Wats., a name published in 1871 that refers to a different plant native to areas further west in the Southwestern United States and Baja California. The name Ephedra antisyphilitica was first used by Meyer in 1846, so it has priority over Watson's later use of the same name for a different plant. Watson's species is now classified as Ephedra nevadensis.
