About Entoloma medianox C.F.Schwarz
Entoloma medianox C.F.Schwarz produces striking, blue mushroom-shaped fruiting bodies called basidiocarps between August and November. Its smooth cap is 5โ15 cm (2โ6 inches) across and features a broad central swelling known as a boss or umbo. Tightly packed white gills grow on the underside of the cap, creating a strong contrast with the fungus's blue colour; these gills turn more salmon-pink as they age. The mushroom's solid stipe is 5โ10 cm (2โ4 inches) tall, 1โ3 cm wide, is also blue, and has a whitish base. The spore print of this species ranges from pink to cinnamon-coloured. The similar species Tricholoma griseoviolaceum does not have blue or pink tones in its gills.
