About Entoloma luteum Peck

Entoloma luteum Peck is a mushroom species belonging to the family Entolomataceae. It was first scientifically described in 1902 by mycologist Charles Horton Peck. This species occurs in North America, where it produces fruit bodies either singly or in clusters, growing on the ground in mixed forest. Its spores are angular, non-amyloid, hyaline (translucent), and measure 9–13 by 8–12 micrometers. Entoloma murrayi is a similar-looking species, which differs by having a more orange cap with a pointed umbo.
