About Entoloma holoconiotum (Largent & Thiers) Noordel. & Co-David
Entoloma holoconiotum is a species of mushroom that belongs to the Entolomataceae family. It was first formally described in 1972 by David Largent and Harry Thiers under the name Nolanea holoconiota. In 2009, Machiel Noordeloos and Co-David reclassified the species, moving it from the genus Nolanea to the genus Entoloma. This mushroom occurs naturally in conifer forests located in western North America. Its cap has a tan or orangish coloration, and measures between 2 and 6 centimeters in diameter. The gills of this species are white. Its stalk is pale yellow, growing 3 to 7 centimeters tall and 3 to 4 millimeters wide. The spores produced by Entoloma holoconiotum are brownish pink. Known similar species to Entoloma holoconiotum are Entoloma cuneatum, Entoloma propinquum, and Entoloma vernum.
