About Entolasia stricta (R.Br.) Hughes

Entolasia stricta, commonly called wiry panic, is a species of right angled grass belonging to the family Poaceae. This species grows in eastern Australia, on sandy or sandstone-based soils. Its leaves are inrolled or curved inward, and have a somewhat rough texture. It was first described in scientific literature in 1810 under the name Panicum strictum, published in Robert Brown's Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae. Brown, a prolific Scottish botanist, authored this work. The species received its current accepted scientific name in 1923.
