Engelhardia roxburghiana Wall. is a tree species that grows up to 35 metres (110 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter that can reach up to 70 centimetres (30 in). Its bark ranges in colour from fawn to dark brown to black. Its male inflorescences are catkins that number eight to ten per inflorescence. This species produces winged fruits that can grow up to 5.5 cm (2 in) wide. Engelhardia roxburghiana grows naturally across a range from India to Indochina, and also occurs in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, and Borneo. Its native habitat is mixed tropical forest, found from sea level up to an altitude of 1,750 metres (5,700 ft).
