About Endothenia quadrimaculana (Haworth, 1811)
Endothenia quadrimaculana (Haworth, 1811) is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. This species ranges from northern and central Europe to Siberia, southeastern Russia, Mongolia, and China. Its subspecies Endothenia quadrimaculana nubilana occurs in North America. The wingspan of adult moths measures 18–22 mm. The forewings have a light brown base colour, marked with small dark brown spots along the costal edge, a square-shaped brown spot at the middle of the wing, and an inward-curved brown cross-band at the wing tip. The hindwings are uniformly light brown. Dissection of the genitalia is required to definitively identify species within the genus Endothenia. In France and Switzerland, Endothenia quadrimaculana produces two generations each year. Adult moths are active in May and June, and then again in August and September. The larvae of this species feed on Mentha spicata, Mentha arvensis, Lamium album, Stachys palustris, Stachys arvensis, Stachys recta, and Symphytum officinale.
