About Enchelycore anatina (Lowe, 1838)
The fangtooth moray, Enchelycore anatina, has a distinct bright yellow head and elongated jaws filled with many long, glass-like teeth. Its body ranges from moderate to dark brown, with pale spots covering both the body and the fins. The dorsal and anal fins are fused with the caudal fin, and all are covered in thick skin. The dorsal fin begins on the head, above or slightly in front of the gill openings. This species has no pectoral or ventral fins, and can grow up to 120 cm (47 in) in total length. The fangtooth moray is a demersal species that lives on rocky bottoms with abundant crevices. As nocturnal carnivores, these moray eels feed primarily on benthic fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans.
