About Emoia atrocostata (Lesson, 1830)

Emoia atrocostata, commonly called the mangrove skink, can be told apart from the similar many-lined sun skink by the absence of keeled scales on its dorsal surface. This species has a grey or brown-grey body flecked with black, with a faint black stripe running along each side. Its throat is often bluish, and its belly ranges from greenish or yellow to orange. Emoia atrocostata is distributed across the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and Queensland, Australia.
