About Elysia ornata (Swainson, 1840)

Elysia ornata can reach a maximum length of approximately 5 centimetres, which is 2.0 inches. Its body is translucent greenish-yellow, speckled with small spots of white and black. It has a pair of broad parapodia, each edged with an orange band followed by a black outer margin. The rhinophores share a similar color pattern, with an orange band and dark-colored tips. This species feeds mainly on algae, and individuals are typically found growing on submerged aquatic vegetation. Elysia ornata is a tropical sea slug that occurs in both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It inhabits the benthic zone at depths ranging from 0 to 18 metres, or 0 to 59 feet.
