About Elisolimax flavescens (W.Keferstein, 1866)

Elisolimax flavescens is a species of air-breathing terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk that is either a land snail or a semislug, belonging to the family Urocyclidae. This species was first described and identified in 1866 by naturalist Wilhelm Moritz Keferstein. It occurs primarily in southeastern Africa. It has not yet become established in the United States, but it is considered to be a potentially serious threat as a pest and invasive species that could negatively impact agriculture, natural ecosystems, human health, and commerce. For these reasons, it has been suggested that this species should be given top national quarantine significance in the USA.
