About Eleocharis sphacelata R.Br.

Eleocharis sphacelata, commonly called tall spikerush, is a species of sedge in the family Cyperaceae. It is native to Australia and New Zealand. This plant is an erect, rhizomatous perennial that grows as either a herbaceous or grass-like sedge. It typically reaches a height between 1 and 2 metres, which equals 3.3 to 6.6 feet. It blooms from February through October, and produces white flowers. In Western Australia, it grows in and around lagoons and swampy areas within the coastal sections of the Kimberley, South West, Great Southern, and Goldfields-Esperance regions. It grows specifically in black muddy soils.
