About Ehrendorferia chrysantha (Hook. & Arn.) J.Rylander

This species was previously described under the synonym Dicentra chrysantha. It has a taproot and blue-green leaves divided into many lobed leaflets. The yellow, aromatic flowers are arranged in panicles at the top of branched stems that grow up to 1.5 m tall. Each flower has two outer petals with tips curving outward away from two inner central petals. Seeds develop inside a 1–2 cm long capsule. Seeds of this species usually do not germinate unless they have been exposed to fire.
