About Echinolittorina placida D.Reid, 2009

Echinolittorina placida D.Reid, 2009 is a species of sea snail. It is a marine gastropod mollusc that belongs to the winkles family, Littorinidae. This species was only formally described in 2009, because it had long been confused with and not distinguished from the similar related species Echinolittorina interrupta. This species is found in the Gulf of Mexico. It lives on rocks and other hard substrates in the supralittoral splash zone, where it spends most of its time out of water. It is a herbivorous species that feeds on microscopic marine algae that grows on rocks.
