About Echinanthera cephalostriata Di Bernardo, 1996

Echinanthera cephalostriata is a species of snake that belongs to the family Colubridae and the subfamily Dipsadinae. Its common name is the Head-striped Leaf-litter Snake, and it is endemic to Brazil. This is a slender, small to medium-sized snake that has a blotched pattern along its back and a thick black stripe running down its sides. Individuals are usually brown or grey in overall color, with a bright yellow belly, and they have characteristically large eyes and a small head. The species is non-venomous, preys mainly on amphibians, and is diurnal. Individuals may be spotted near creeks, and their distribution within Brazil covers the states of Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo. Currently, little recorded information exists about this species.
