About Earias clorana (Linnaeus, 1761)
Scientific name: Earias clorana (Linnaeus, 1761), also referenced as Earis chlorana L. (synonym viride Retz.). Forewings are pale green, with a white costa extending past the middle, and a brownish costa edge near the base. Hindwings are white, with faintly greenish terminal edge and fringe above vein 2. There are two named aberrations of the species. The aberration flavimargo de Joan., found in Brittany, has a fringe that is yellowish at the base, brown in the middle, and white at the tips. The aberration hemixantha de Joan. has its terminal wing area, except along the costa, suffused with orange yellow. Mature larvae are whitish, mottled with grey; their lines are rusty grey, darker in some areas. Pairs of somewhat pointed tubercles are present on the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 12th body segments. The head is pale green with black markings. The wingspan of adult Earias clorana is 16–20 mm.
