About Dypsis decipiens (Becc.) Beentje & J.Dransf.

Dypsis decipiens (Becc.) Beentje & J.Dransf., commonly known as the Manambe palm, has the scientific synonym Chrysalidocarpus decipiens. This species is a flowering plant that belongs to the palm family, Arecaceae. It is endemic to the central highlands of Madagascar, growing only between Fianarantsoa and Andilamena at elevations between 1,200 and 1,700 meters. This palm is threatened by three main factors: habitat loss, increasingly frequent fires, and over-harvesting of its seeds for the horticultural trade. The species can grow with a single trunk, three trunks, or most commonly twin V-shaped trunks. Individual trunks can reach up to 20 metres (66 ft) in height, and up to 70 cm (28 in) in diameter at breast height.
