Scientific name: Dufourea monardae (Viereck, 1924). Adult females of this species reach approximately 7 mm in body length. They are black, have sparse pale hairs, and a strongly protuberant face. Males measure 6 to 7 mm in length, and share the same black coloration as females. Males have a longer head than females, lightly infuscated wings, and unmodified slender hind legs. Both sexes of Dufourea monardae have smooth, shiny abdominal segments and short pale pubescence.
