About Ducula spilorrhoa (G.R.Gray, 1858)

The Torresian imperial pigeon, scientifically named Ducula spilorrhoa (G.R.Gray, 1858), is a large, plump pigeon species. It measures 38 to 44 centimetres (15 to 17.5 inches) in body length, and has a wingspan of 45 centimetres (18 inches). Apart from black flight feathers (remiges), a portion of its tail (rectrices), and spots on its undertail coverts, the bird's body is entirely white or pale cream. Its head may turn brown from being soiled by fruit when the bird feeds.
